A Great Novel... A Great Motion Picture"; "Ladd as man of violence and mystery vs. women of wealth and Beauty!"; "From the novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald and the play by Owen Davis") starring Alan Ladd (in the title role as Jay Gatsby), Betty Field (as Daisy Buchanan), Macdonald Carey (as Nick Carraway), Ruth Hussey (as Jordan Baker), Barry Sullivan (as Tom Buchanan), Howard Da Silva, Shelley Winters, and Ed Begley. Note that F. Scott Fitzgerald's legendary novel was first adapted as a movie in 1926 (the novel was published in 1925). This 1949 remake was not very faithful to the novel, and was not very successful at the box office, and neither was the 1974 remake starring Robert Redford (to be fair, it would be very difficult for a movie to be faithful to the book and succeed at the box office). We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning. Note also that this poster was tri-folded only (which means there is no vertical machine fold) but because it would be more expensive to send flat, it will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was tri-folded only and has the most minor of fold and border wear. There is tape running along portions of the back of the lower edge (typical of many Japanese B2 posters from this time period) which has no effect on the front.
