Date Sold 12/21/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 16 1/2" x 23 1/4" [42 x 59 cm]) (Learn More) Banksy is an anonymous English graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter from the 1990s to the present. Banksy displays his art publicly on walls or self-built propped pieces. He directed the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop in 2010. Banksy has managed to maintain his anonymity, which seems remarkable! One of his best known works was auctioned at Sotheby's in London and after the auction closed, Banksy activated a device built into its frame which caused half of the work to be shredded, and the new owner was delighted, because "experts" declared that this mutilation had at least doubled the value of the work! Artist: Banksy Important Added Info: Note that this image was designed for Greenpeace by Banksy for a 2002 forest campaign. While it's commonly believed that the art was withdrawn after the Walt Disney Company complained, Greenpeace posted an article that says that they only withdrew the image after the campaign had run its natural course. Also, note that we are not certain who printed this poster, and how it was distributed. We have heard from knowledgeable sources that 95% of the originals were machine folded, and we have noticed very slight art cropping differences between the unfolded and folded posters. Please keep this uncertainty in mind should you decide to bid on this unfolded poster. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
