Date Sold 4/24/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Kraftbacked Folded Belgian Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 29 1/2" [62 x 75 cm]) (Learn More) Mickey Daniels was a redheaded, heavily freckled child actor from the 1920s to the 1930s. He was originally in the "Our Gang" comedy shorts, but after transitioning into an adult, roles became scarce. He died at the age of 55 in a hotel room in San Diego, where he was working as a taxi driver! Some of his movies include: The Champeen, Rupert of Hee Haw, and Too Many Women AND David Sharpe was an actor and stuntman from 1922 to 1978. He was called the "Crown Prince of Daredevils" and ranks along side Yakima Canutt as of Hollywood's all-time greatest stuntmen. Some of his movies include: Daredevils of the Red Circle, Dick Tracy Returns, and The Good Humor Man. Note that these two actors appeared together in Hal Roach shorts, sometimes billed as "The Boyfriends" If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a very rare pre-war Belgian "stock" poster. It would have been used by theaters showing Hal Roach movies with both of these two actors. We are mystified by the poster, because we wouldn't think these actors would warrant a stock poster, and we don't know what gave them sufficient fame in Belgium to cause someone to create this poster! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them. Condition: fair to good. The poster likely was partially trimmed at the top and bottom but solely in the border areas. It has been folded but at some point many years ago it was mounted on to brown kraft paper. It has tears and some paper loss around the edges and paper loss in the hat near the center of the poster with some light stains scattered throughout. The poster can certainly be removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked but bear the poster's condition and the cost of restoration in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
