Todd. Note that producer David O. Selznick was certain that Ingrid Bergman would be a huge star when he signed her to a contract in 1938, having seen her Swedish movies. To play it safe, for her first U.S. movie, he chose to re-make one of her earlier Swedish successes, "Intermezzo", which she had made in 1936 with an all-Swedish cast, in Swedish of course. Selznick's instincts were correct (as he had been so often before, and would be again), and Bergman DID become a huge international star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Also note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had extra horizontal folds, with some tiny creases and tiny surface paper loss on parts of the folds. It had some pinholes, stains, and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
