Kenton Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("New Thrills as the monster stalks again!"; "Original Story, Eric Taylor"; the fourth Universal Frankenstein movie after the three 1930s classics; in this entry, Bela Lugosi as Ygor resurrects the Frankenstein monster and takes him to the doctor's son and they must find a new brain!) starring Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Dr. Ludwig Frankenstein), Ralph Bellamy, Lionel Atwill (as Doctor Bohmer), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Evelyn Ankers (as Elsa Frankenstein), Lon Chaney Jr. (as the Frankenstein monster), Holmes Herbert, and Janet Ann Gallow NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only once previously auctioned another example of this window card, and that one was both restored and had been damaged after it was restored (we actually auctioned the same card twice, because the first time it was not paid for, but the second time it auctioned for $1,500. Now we have been consigned a second example of this card. This one is NOT backed, and it is in better condition than the one we previously auctioned (it carries the same condition grade as the other one, but this one is unrestored, and after restoration, it will grade higher than the other). Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. The card has many stains and some pinholes and tack holes around the edges. There is water staining on the back of the top 5" of the card. It shows through to the front in the bottom of the words "NEW THRILLS" and very slightly in the forehead and hair of the monster. There is a faint vertical crease in the center of the top half of the image, running down the right side of the monster's face, slightly touching the edge of his eye and the side of his mouth. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that many of the stains can be removed (partially or in whole) through chemical means, and since many of the defects are in the borders, the card will require very little paint restoration anywhere in the image. After proper restoration, it will look fantastic and display really well on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
