You'll Remember The Awesome Siege of the Cannon! You'll Remember The Stand Of The 156 Men Against 7,000! You'll Remember Davy Crockett Standing On the Ramparts! You'll Remember The Daring Raid Into the Heart Of The Enemy Camp! You'll Remember The Unsung Exploit Of The Midnight Courier! You'll Remember The Charge of the Scarlet Plumes!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring John Wayne ("as Colonel David Crockett", better known as Davy Crockett), Richard Widmark ("as Colonel James Bowie"), Laurence Harvey ("as Colonel Wm. Barret Travis"), Frankie Avalon, Patrick Wayne, Linda Cristal, Joan O'Brien, Chill Wills (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Joseph Calleia, and Richard Boone (billed as "Guest Star Richard Boone"). Note that this movie was first announced by Republic Pictures in 1950, starring John Wayne, but for various reasons, the movie was never made at that time. Finally, Wayne was able to get it made (with himself as the director) a full decade later! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a special one-sheet from the very first roadshow release of this movie (when it was opened in a very limited number of theaters). The poster looks very similar to the later regular release one-sheet, but this poster has "in TODD-AO" printed on the poster under the title. We have never seen or heard of another example of this poster! Condition: very good. 6" slightly diagonal crease in the left end of the top and bottom horizontal folds as well as minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines); 1/8" hole in the bottom crossfold as well as smaller holes at the other crossfolds and minor separation at some of the ends of the foldlines; tack holes around the edges of the poster with some 1" and smaller tears in the blank borders from rough removal (repaired with tape from the back). The poster is in much better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are basically minor, and are the type that respond extremely well to restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster would look wonderful, and there would be little paint anywhere on the poster! Learn More about condition grades
