An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Vera Miles is an actress from the 1950s to the 1980s. She was "Miss Kansas" in 1948 and came in third in the Miss America Pageant that year. She was signed by John Ford and appeared in two of his best movies, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and The Searchers. She was then signed by Alfred Hitchcock, who saw her as "the new Grace Kelly", and she appeared in two of his movies, Psycho and the Wrong Man, and she was also in several episodes of his TV show. She was supposed to star in Vertigo, but she had to withdraw when she became pregnant, and she had four children in the 1950s and 1960s, and that severely curtailed her career, which likely would have included many more memorable film roles. As of 2021, Miles is still alive at the age of 91! Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Vera Miles! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
