Thrill to them together in a suspense-romance directed by the man who did 'Rebecca'"; "Screen play by Samson Raphaelson, Joan Harrison, Alma Reville [Hitchcock's wife]"; "Based on the novel 'Before the Fact' by Francis Iles"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Nigel Bruce, Dame May Whitty, Lumsden Hare, Vernon Downing, and Auriol Lee. Note that there is controversy about the ending of this movie! Many people say that Hitchcock intended the movie to end with Grant killing Fontaine, and that the studio insisted that he change it (to preserve Grant's positive public image), but others say that this is an urban legend, and that the movie was always intended to end the way it did! Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair to good. The card has darkened. It has staining, small tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges and some smudges and water stains scattered throughout the card. There are some surface scratches within the image. There are two jagged tears that form a "V" in the lower left border. Someone long ago put clear tape on the back of the V-shaped tear and on the back of much of the borders, but much of that tape is long gone. A talented restorer could restore the above defects and after proper restoration, the card would look fantastic (and it is quite possible that some or all of the staining can be removed through chemical means, and if so, this card can be restored without a lot of paint restoration), but please do not bid on this really cool (and really rare!) poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored! .
