An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Blood on the Sun, the 1945 Frank Lloyd anti-Japanese World War II (WWII) crime thriller ("Cagney's mightiest!"; "CAGNEY... With both fists flying!"; "Battle the Japs with Cagney"; produced by William Cagney) starring James Cagney, Sylvia Sidney, Porter Hall, John Emery, Robert Armstrong, Wallace Ford, Rosemary De Camp, and John Halloran. Note that when the United States was deep into World War II, racist epithets were used against the Japanese they were fighting, and they were prominently put on movie posters of that time like this one, and we certainly hope never to see that again! Also, note that Cagney trained intensively in the martial art of judo for his role, and performed his own stunts. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had creases on most foldlines, pinholes in the corners, and minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking.
