An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn, the 1942 Mark Sandrich romantic love triangle musical comedy ("Lyrics and Music by Irving Berlin"; about two performers who opened a New England inn that is only open on holidays) starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds, Virginia Dale, Walter Abel, and Louise Beavers. Note that this was the movie that introduced the Irving Berlin classic "White Christmas". It proved VERY popular, and in 1954, Paramount pretty much remade this movie as White Christmas, with Danny Kaye replacing Fred Astaire, and two new female leads, and that became an all-time Christmas classic! Important Added Info: Note that this is only the third example of this poster that we have auctioned in the last decade (and the last example sold for $1,750!). Condition: fair. The poster has a really major defect! Some demented teen was likely in the lobby where this poster was displayed and they drew a handlebar mustache on Reynolds' image at center and also "blacked out" two of her teeth with pencil. The poster also has pinholes around the edges with a few tears in the borders and parts of the folds and small paper loss in the top right border. Obviously a talented restorer can "rescue" this poster, but don't assume that the pencil can simply be "erased" as sometimes it "bonds in" with the paper and needs to be painted over by the restorer. Please only bid on this one poster if you can accept the uncertainty of how easy or difficult the restoration is, and we will not accept a return on this poster, because we have clearly described its very significant defects.
