An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

Anton Chekhov's Summer Storm, the 1944 Douglas Sirk pre-revolution Russia romantic love triangle melodrama ("She was an invitation to murder"; "Don't Go Near This Woman!"; "She Devil! So beautiful and so wicked!"; based on the novel 'The Shooting Party' by Anton Chekhov; about an upper class Russian man engaged to marry a woman of "his own class", but he falls for a beautiful peasant girl, and he destroys his life over her) starring George Sanders ("the Thunder"), Linda Darnell ("the Lightning"), Anna Lee, Hugo Haas, Lori Lehmer, Edward Everett Horton, John Abbott, Sig Ruman, John Phillber, and Robert Greig. Note that this movie bears marked similarities to G.W. Pabst's "Pandora's Box", but the Chekhov novel was written in 1884, and "Pandora's Box" comes from a different source. Also note that director Douglas Sirk (born "Detlef Sierck") had left Nazi Germany in 1941, after having made several German movies, and then he directed "Hitler's Madman" in 1943, which led to this movie the following year, and of course, in the 1950s, he gained a great following for his romantic melodramas!
