Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 15" x 40") (Learn More) James M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the 1924 Herbert Brenon & Roy Pomeroy silent juvenile fantasy pirate adventure thriller ("The story of the boy who would not grow up."; "Peter Pan is the little boy who wouldn't grow up. If you want to visit him take the second turn to the right and go straight on 'till morning. There, in the Never Never Land, you will find him with the Fairies, the Indians, the Pirates and everything dear to the heart of a boy."; based on the classic play by J.M. Barrie; the first of many movie versions; about a boy who never grew up and who took runaway boys to a "Never Land") starring Betty Bronson (in the title role as Peter Pan; in her second credited movie role; thanks to Barrie's contract, the author had star approval, and after nine months he selected then-unknown Bronson!), Mary Brian (as Wendy), Jack Murphy, Philippe De Lacy, Virginia Brown Faire (as Tinker Bell), Ernest Torrence (as Captain James Hook), Edward Kipling (as Smee), and Anna May Wong (as Tiger Lilly). Note that because Peter Pan was a boy who never aged, he was always played by adult females of small stature, including in this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster was folded originally. But it has been laying completely flat for many many years, and we strongly advise letting us send it in a tube, rather than folding it! Condition: fair. there is a large area of paper loss in the right side of the poster, cutting off the end of the "R" in "PETER"; there are three small areas of paper loss in the top Peter Pan's shirt; there are three areas of paper loss in the middle right border, and two of them have caused surface paper loss within the image; there is a hole in the eye of one of the pirates at top right; there is much light staining throughout the image; there are many extra horizontal creases throughout the poster; there is staining and smudges around the edges of the poster. Obviously this poster has many condition problems! But it is also a wonderful poster, and surely a talented restorer could repair its many defects and make it look wonderful!. Note that this was one of a group of 24 daybills from the 1920s and 1930s that were found together. All have significant condition defects, but many are quite attractive and some may well be the only (or one of a few) surviving examples! But please read the condition descriptions closely and do not bid on any of these 24 posters unless you can accept their defects or are willing to have them restored!
