The Night Runner, the 1957 Abner Biberman mental illness psychiatry psycho killer crime murder thriller ("Are mental patients turned loose too soon?"; "The State Asylum Called Him 'Cured'!"; "Released mental patient hunted in terror attack!"; "Berserk suspect tortures victim!"; "Homicide investigators reported that the madman subjected..."; "An open hearing on overcrowded hospital facilities was.."; "Was any woman safe from his terror!"; "The shocking story of a woman who gave her love to a man the State Asylum called cured!"; "Are inmates turned loose too soon?"; "What happens when a mental patient is turned loose - too soon?") starring Ray Danton, Colleen Miller, Merry Anders, Willis Bouchey, and Eddy Waller. Note that this movie is even more relevant today, because ever since the invention of anti-psychotic drugs and the closing of most state-run mental hospitals, hundreds of thousands of mental patients have been released and are barely supervised, and many of them are responsible for the tragic mass killings that have occurred over recent years.
