Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 8 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Duck Soup, the classic 1933 Leo McCarey musical political satire screwball comedy (Groucho is named the new ruler of a bankrupt country, Freedonia, and he declares war on a neighboring country, and his brothers Chico and Harpo are incredibly inept spies!) starring the Four Marx Brothers: Groucho Marx (as Rufus T. Firefly), Harpo Marx (as Pinky), Chico Marx (as Chicolini), and Zeppo Marx (as Lt. Bob Roland), and also starring Margaret Dumont, Raquel Torres, and Louis Calhern NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. there are 5 evenly spaced tack holes down the left and right sides of the card; the two bottom ones on the left and right are in the edges of the image; there are two evenly spaced tack holes in the middle of the top and bottom borders (the ones in the bottom border are in the solid black kettle); there are four other tack holes within the central part of the card; two are in the white background area (one is above the "A" of "MARX" and the other is between the "R" and "X" of "MARX"; the final two tack holes are in the images of the brothers; one is in the forehead of Harpo, next to his hair and the other is in the neck of Chico. Other than the above 16 tack holes (all of which are very neat and most of which have no effect on the image, there is a light 1/2" wide scuff mark running from the bottom center of the card between the words "DUCK" and "SOUP" and then going diagonally to the top of the kettle; there are a few minor creases and smudges around the edges of the card. This window card is in better condition than the above makes it sound! It has a real unused look and feel to it. The paper is crisp and the colors are bright. It is completely unrestored. Certainly, I would well imagine many collectors being happy to display it as is, but any talented restorer could fill in the many tack holes (most of which are in the blank areas), plus remove the scuff in the solid black of the kettle, and the result would be a window card that looked incredible, with very little actual paint restoration in the image, and next-to-none in the title area and in the images of the brothers.
