A Folded Argentinean Music Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43 1/4" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More)

Francisco Canaro was a Uruguayan-born Argentinean violinist and tango orchestra leader from the 1900s to the 1960s. Canaro's orchestra became a fixture on Argentine radio during the 1940s and early 1950s, though for many contemporary dancers and listeners, his early golden age recordings remained the best in their genre. He passed away in 1964 at the age of 76.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that in addition to auctioning this three-color poster, we are also auctioning two other very similar posters. One is the same image but it was printed full-color, and the other is the same image, but it was only printed with two colors. Clearly this poster and the two-color one are "test" posters that were printed during the production of the posters for this event (and it is certainly possible that the full-color one is also a test poster). Such test posters are extremely rare, especially from the 1930s, because they were often thrown out once the final poster was approved and printed. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good.
