Date Sold 5/5/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Footlight Parade, the classic 1933 Lloyd Bacon New York City Broadway stage romantic musical ("Another of Warner Bros.' Glittering Parade of Musical Sensations!"; "Surpassing even '42nd Street' and 'Gold Diggers of 1933'"; "Can you even think of missing it?"; "250 of the world's most gorgeous girls and hundreds more of your screen favorites."; "Dance numbers by Busby Berkeley") starring James Cagney (billed on some items as "Jimmy Cagney"), Joan Blondell, Ruby Keeler, Dick Powell, Frank McHugh, Ruth Donnelly, Guy Kibbee, Hugh Herbert, Nancy Lyons, Gordon Westcott, Claire Dodd, Donna Mae Roberts, Renee Whitney, and Bobbie La Salle. Note that this movie had some of the most risque advertising of any movie ever, with many images of girls wearing the skimpiest of costumes (and they were advertised as "one of the 300 reasons why you must see Footlight Parade")! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from this most classic 1933 Busby Berkeley musical have been beyond rare, and we have never auctioned even one lobby card from it before. Now, we have been consigned our very first lobby card, and it has a great image of James Cagney, Joan Blondell, and Ruby Keeler, the top stars of the movie! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.
UPDATED 05/02/2016: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that it is Claire Dodd with Cagney & Blondell. Condition: very good. The card has darkened someone, typical of Warner Bros. lobby cards of this period. It has a pinhole in each corner and there is a small tear next to each of the top pinholes that was caused when they were removed. There are a few very faint creases and scuffs around the edges of the card. Otherwise, the card is in great condition, especially considering its age, and it has never had any sort of restoration.
