Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 9 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Spooks, the 1953 Jules White 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) fantasy slapstick comedy short ("3 times as hilarious in 3-D!"; "The 3 Stooges in 3-Dimensions!"; "Their most hilarious laugh hit!"; "A Columbia Short-Subject Presentation"; the Stooges are private detectives trying to find a missing girl, and their clues lead them to a mad scientist's mansion, where there is a gorilla and other bad people, including Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde) starring The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Shemp Howard), Philip Van Zandt (as Dr. Jeckyl [sic]), Tom Kennedy (as Mr. Hyde), Norma Randall, and Steve Calvert (in an uncredited role as the gorilla). Note that in 1948, Steve Calvert bought Ray 'Crash' Corrigan's gorilla costume, which Corrigan had been using in movies since at least 1932. He appeared in 12 movies between 1948 and 1958 as a gorilla wearing Corrigan's costume! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Also note that this movie was originally in 3-D. The studios created both 3D posters and 2D posters (the 2-D posters were for theaters that lacked the 3-D equipment). This poster is from the "3-D" release. Condition: very good. There are pinholes in the corners and pinholes in the center of the top and bottom borders. There was 1" of separation at the right of the bottom foldline (in the blank white border), and someone put two pieces of brown tape on the back of that, and they have bled through to the front. There is a series of tiny creases and minute areas of surface paper loss between the top and middle crossfolds. There is small separation at each crossfold, and tiny paper loss at the middle and bottom crossfolds. Someone put a piece of tape on the back of the bottom crossfold and it has bled through to the front. There are minor creases and smudges throughout the poster. The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are relatively minor. After linenbacking by a top professional, and restoration of the poster's defects, the poster would look great, and there would be little paint anywhere on the poster, except over the two bled-through areas (one of which is blank white paper only, and the other is mostly solid red, with a tiny bit of the bottom of one "O"). It is important to note that, unlike most 3-D posters of this era, this poster did not have any damage in the "3-D" area at top. Often, 3-D posters were also used in theaters without 3-D equipment, and the "3-D" logo was either blacked out or a snipe was glued over it, damaging that area, and requiring restoration.
