Dozsa was a man at arms who led a peasants' revolt in the 1510s against the kingdom's landed nobility, who had tried to curtail the freedom of the lower class. For this, he was eventually caught, tortured, and executed. The socialist political regime in Hungary at the time printed this propaganda poster in an attempt to show that they were on the side of the working class.
