An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Dracula (released in the U.S. as "Horror of Dracula" and "Dracula 1958"), the classic 1958 Terence Fisher English Hammer vampire horror thriller ("The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... After you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Who will be his bride tonight?"; "The terrifying lover who died... Yet lived!"; "The chill of the tomb won't leave your blood for hours... after you come face-to-face with Dracula !"; "Don't dare see it... alone!"; "All New! In Brilliant Technicolor!"; "Screenplay by Jimmy Sangster"; "From the novel by Bram Stoker") starring Peter Cushing (as Doctor Van Helsing), Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, Carol Marsh, Christopher Lee (in the title role "as Dracula"), John Van Eyssen, Valerie Gaunt, and Janina Faye. Note that this was the very first of the Hammer Dracula movies! Given how popular they are today, it seems surprising that it took two years to make a sequel (The Brides of Dracula in 1960), and even more surprising that Christopher Lee did not reprise his role (David Peel took over in this one). To be fair, Christopher Lee had played Sherlock Holmes in the interim, and that was probably more interesting to him. Hammer and he didn't return to Dracula until 1966 with Dracula: Prince of Darkness, and there were five more Dracula Hammer movies between 1968 and 1972! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Joseph Smith Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been seen multiple times in two versions. They are completely identical to each other except that one has a blueish background and the other has a greenish background. Since I have been consigned both posters from theater owners who showed this movie on its first release, I think they simply printed both versions on its first release, and that they are both original release (but it is interesting to note and understand that the three-sheets we have seen have a green background, and we have not seen one with a blue background, but of course, that does not necessarily mean anything). The poster offered here is the blue background version. Condition: very good. There is a 1/2" tear at center above the middle crossfold in Dracula's lip extending into one of his teeth. There are some pin holes scattered throughout the poster (mostly around the edges with a few enlarged from rough removal). The bottom 1 1/2" of the poster was folded back at one time and there is a slightly diagonal crease above and below the left end of the middle horizontal fold and in the left corners of the poster (that part of the poster was folded back at one time when it was folded). The poster has darkened very slightly with age, but this is mostly only noticeable at top in the blue and blank borders where a snipe was placed at one time. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well from a reasonable viewing distance, but of course if one chose to have it restored it would look fantastic!
