An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 13" x 27 1/2" [33 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) A Message to Garcia, the 1936 George Marshall Spanish-American War Cuba military romantic adventure thriller ("Suggested by Elbert Hubbard's immortal essay and the book by Lieut. Andrew S. Rowan"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; very loosely based on the real life story of the American lieutenant in Cuba during the Spanish-American war, who went to a Cuban rebel general named Garcia and asked him to help the Americans against the Spanish) starring Wallace Beery, Barbara Stanwyck (as a Spanish senorita!), John Boles, Alan Hale Sr., Herbert Mundin, Mona Barrie, and Enrique Acosta (in the title role as General Calixto Garcia). Note that in real life, the actual "Message to Garcia" was simply carried by the American lieutenant to General Garcia, with no difficulty or danger. But Hollywood couldn't make a movie of that, so they created an involved plot, making it seem more dangerous and glamorous than it really was! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
