An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Madame X, the 1920 Frank Lloyd silent romantic family relationship melodrama ("Adapted from the French of Alexandre Bisson"; based on the play by Alexandre Bisson; the story of a mother who gives up her son, and years later becomes involved in his life, without him learning that she is his mother) starring Pauline Frederick, William Courtleigh, Casson Ferguson, Maude Louis, and Hardee Kirkland. Note that this classic tearjerker is one of the most frequently remade movies ever! It was first in a feature film in 1916 (as "Madam X"), and was then remade in 1920, 1929, 1937, 1939, 1948, 1954, and 1966, and there was even a TV movie version in 1981! Important Added Info: Note that cinema pioneer Samuel Goldwyn (one of the founders of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) conducted an interesting experiment with lobby cards in 1919 and part of 1920. He had all of the 1919 lobby cards from Goldwyn movies made in a special way. The title card was like a normal title card, but all of the seven scene cards did not have the title of the movie printed anywhere on them! Obviously, theater owners hated the experiment, because it meant they could not tell which movie the scene cards were from unless they had specifically seen the movie. Similarly, lobby card collectors have the same problem, and we have sold many "unknown" 1919 Goldwyn lobby cards over the years! In the case of this specific card, we know it to be from the movie "Sis Hopkins", because it was identified for us by a Mabel Nourmand expert. Condition: very good.
