Date Sold 8/11/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Standee (measures 32 3/4" x 59 1/2" [83 x 151 cm]) (Learn More) Captain Horatio Hornblower, the 1951 Raoul Walsh English British Naval military war ship action seafaring biography ("All the Seas of the World are its Stage!"; "This ocean will be mine-- and so will the woman!"; "Making it was the mighty adventure of the screen! Seeing it will be yours!"; "From the Novel by C.S. Forester") starring Gregory Peck (in the title role as a fictionalized version of Captain Horatio Hornblower), Virginia Mayo, Robert Beatty, Moultrie Kelsall, Terence Morgan, James Kenney, James Robertson Justice, Christopher Lee, and Alec Mango NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: There are two circular pieces of cardboard attached to the back of the standee with a string between them (this is how the standees were originally made), and they are both still present, pretty unusual for standees of this age. This does not have any kind of regular standee backing. We are guessing that you were supposed to lean the standee against a pole and tie the strings from the circles around the pole, but that is just a guess! Condition: fair. There is scuffing in the top and bottom of the standee, including a scuff mark in the top right corner in Mayo's head (see our image). It was stored in a damp environment, and it is now "musty" and has a distinct musty odor. It likely would be greatly improved simply by being allowed to air out for a few hours in sunlight, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this standee. Learn More about condition grades
