An Original Vintage Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More) King of the Jungle, the 1933 H. Bruce Humberstone & Max Marcin African safari action adventure melodrama ("The Serialplay Extraordinary") starring Buster Crabbe (billed as "The Lion Man"), Frances Dee, Sidney Toler, Nydia Westman, Robert Barrat, and Irving Pichel. Note that Buster Crabbe had been strongly considered for the role of Tarzan in 1932's "Tarzan the Ape Man", but Johnny Weissmuller was chosen over him, and when Paramount looked to make a copycat Tarzan movie the following year, they naturally turned to Buster Crabbe for the part of "Kaspa the Lion Man" (unlike Tarzan, who was a child raised in the jungle by apes, Kaspa was a child raised in the jungle by lions, a distinction that surely did not amuse either Edgar Rice Burroughs or MGM!).
