An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 125 pages) (Learn More)

National Lampoon's Animal House (released in France as "American College"), the classic 1978 John Landis teen college university fraternity slapstick comedy ("These guys are flunking out of college and loving every minute of it. You will too."; "What turns a clean-cut college kid into a shambling, sex crazed, drooling, degenerate, drink sodden college kid?"; "A Riotous Comedy in a Class of its Own."; "It was the Deltas against the rules... The rules lost!"; "Dress optional: toga not required!"; "A comedy from Universal Pictures"; "Written by Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney & Chris Miller") starring John Belushi (as 'Bluto' Blutarsky), Tim Matheson (as Eric 'Otter' Stratton), John Vernon (as Dean Wormer), Verna Bloom (as Marion Wormer), Tom Hulce (as Larry 'Pinto' Kroger), Peter Riegert (as Donald 'Boon' Schoenstein), Mary Louise Weller (as Mandy Pepperidge), Stephen Furst (as Kent 'Flounder' Dorfman), James Daughton (as Greg Marmalard), Bruce McGill (as Daniel Simpson 'D-Day' Day), Mark Metcalf (as Doug Neidermeyer), DeWayne Jessie (as Otis Day), Karen Allen (as Katy), James Widdoes (as Robert Hoover), Martha Smith (as Barbara 'Babs' Jansen), Donald Sutherland ("as Jennings"), Kevin Bacon (very young in his very first movie role as Chip!), Douglas Kenney (the co-screenwriter, as Stork), Stephen Bishop (as "charming guy with guitar"), and Sarah Holcomb (as the mayor's daughter)

Important Added Info: Note that this script is the third draft from April 1977 and the screenplay was written by Doug Kenney, Harold Ramis, and Chris Miller. This script has a wonderful provenance! Our consignor had been friends with co-screenwriter Doug Kenney (who also played "Stork" in this movie) for several years prior to this, and when the movie was being made, Kenney gave our consignor this script, and on the first page it has Kenney's name, address, and phone number, and he wrote "REWARD! $" under his address. THIS IS VERY MUCH FROM THE EARLY DAYS OF THE PRODUCTION OF THIS COMEDY CLASSIC (it would be July 1978, over FIFTEEN MONTHS later, before the movie would open), AND THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS SCRIPT AND WHAT MADE IT ON THE SCREEN! What is SO great about this, is that it has tons of Doug Kenney's own pencil written changes, areas where he crossed out sections, areas where he added in lines (or comments), and on and on! There are three small pencil drawings of character heads on the title page, and written under them are the names Bluto, Pinto, and Flounder, and we would think that they were drawn by Kenney himself! We photographed 18 interior pages (ones with markings or changes), and there are a lot more. The winning bidder of this auction (and only the winning bidder!) will have a great time comparing what is written here to what ended up in the final film (and there was quite a bit of extremely raunchy material that was cut).

Note: We have 21 images of this movie script, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 21 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 11.

Condition: very good. There are stains on the front and back covers that are completely blank. There are also faint stains on the inside front cover and the title page. As noted above, lots of the interior pages have handwritten notes of all sorts by Doug Kenney, including additions, comments, and sections he marked to delete. Please see our multiple images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this script.
