An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 39 3/4" x 78" [101 x 198 cm]) (Learn More) For Me and My Gal, the 1942 Busby Berkeley New York City Broadway theater stage acting romantic musical ("Greatest musical show ever to thrill your heart!"; "Screen play by Richard Sherman, Fred Finklehoffe and Sid Silvers"; "Original Story by Howard Emmett Rogers") starring Judy Garland, George Murphy, Gene Kelly, Martha Eggerth, Ben Blue, and Richard Quine. Note that this was Gene Kelly's very first movie, but because he was already a Broadway dancing star, he was given a lead role in his first time out! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Also note that prior to linenbacking, this poster had been trimmed in the blank borders only, and it measured 39 3/4" x 78" [101 x 198 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to linenbacking, parts of the blank borders were trimmed off, but only blank white paper was affected. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and small areas of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had a 5" vertical tear to the left of the "G" of "GAL", but it was solely in the white background area. It had some faint smudges scattered in the white background areas, and pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. In spite of the above defects, the poster will display great from any reasonable viewing distance, or certainly, one could choose to have additional restoration performed, either with or without re-backing the poster.
