An Original Vintage Theatrical 6 3/4" x 7 1/4" [17 x 18 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Meet the Baron, the 1933 Walter Lang impersonation comedy ("Vas you dere Sharlie?") starring Jack Pearl (in the title role as the Famous "Baron Munchausen" of the air), Jimmy Durante, Zasu Pitts, Ted Healy (most famous as the person who started The Three Stooges; they were first billed as "Ted Healy and his Stooges"; he let them go on their own, hiring replacement "Stooges", but that did not work out well at all!), Edna May Oliver, and The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, and Curly Howard). While all movie advertising from the films the Stooges did for MGM is incredibly rare, advertising from this particular movie is beyond rare!

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never previously auctioned anything from this movie until we received this still! The still has a MOST unusual origin. It was found in a Texas movie theater in 1972, when the theater was being torn down. There were stills glued to boards that were displayed on one of the walls of the theater. Our consignor "rescued" this still by cutting it from the board. The still has been trimmed to 6 3/4" x 7 1/4" [17 x 18 cm], but the image of Ted Healy and the Stooges is hardly affected by the trimming. Obviously, the new owner of this incredibly rare still could have it removed from the heavy board it is glued to (and at that time also repair the defects in the corners), or one could certainly display it as it is. Either way, the new owner of this still will have one from a movie where virtually no paper advertising exists!

Condition: fair. Many years ago, the still was trimmed and glued to a heavy board (see above). No one has performed any restoration, but it could be done, or certainly, it could be displayed as it is. However, bear in mind its defects before placing a bid.
