eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5j269 PURSUED insert '47 great full-length image of Robert Mitchum & Teresa Wright! Date Sold 2/24/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Pursued, the 1947 Raoul Walsh cowboy western ("Produced by United States Pictures for Warners"; "Up out of the land of the lawless storms, this story of love and lust for revenge!"; "A Love as Bold, as Beautiful, as Wild as the Hills that Hid Their Story!"; "Heart-moving magnitude are two wonderful stars in the story of a lonely caress - a story filled with the fears and all the wild fury of the West!"; moody and psychological; kind of a film noir western!) starring Teresa Wright, Robert Mitchum, Judith Anderson, Dean Jagger, Alan Hale Sr., and John Rodney (billed as "and introducing John Rodney"). Note that this movie was produced by "United States Pictures" for Warner Bros. (that's how the credit reads on the poster). United States Pictures was a company founded the year before this movie was made by Milton Sperling, who was coincidentally Harry Warner's son-in-law, and it allowed him to produce movies using Warner Bros. resources and studio, and then sell them the completed movie! It made a number of movies between 1946 and the early 1960s. Of course, in later years, this setup became much more common, as more and more independent production companies made movies that they then released through the major studios, but this was one of the very first. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. Condition: good to very good. There are some creases and tears of varying lengths around the edges of the poster (some of which have been repaired with tape from the back at lower right).
