An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25 1/2" x 39 1/2" [65 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

Jane Eyre, the 1934 Christy Cabanne romantic rich-older-man-poor-beautiful-woman melodrama (based on the classic novel by Charlotte Bronte) starring Virginia Bruce (in the title role as Jane Eyre), Colin Clive (as Edward Rochester), Beryl Mercer, David Torrence, Aileen Pringle, Lionel Belmore, Jameson Thomas, and Edith Fellows. Note that there had been four silent versions of this Bronte classic in the 1910s, and in 1943 it was remade with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine in the lead roles, but this 1934 version is completely forgotten today!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned two examples of this poster before!

The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing (which was sewn around the edges) shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from theater to theater, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful! Finally, note also that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 25 3/4" x 39 3/4" [65 x 101 cm].

Condition: good. There are some faint stains and creases scattered throughout the poster. There is a censor stamp at lower left. This extremely rare poster could be removed from the linen (see above) and restored, or it could be displayed as it is.
