An Undated (likely 1970s) Re-Release Theatrical Folded English One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Man Who Fell to Earth, the classic 1976 Nicolas Roeg English fantasy science fiction (sci-fi) alien thriller ("You have to believe it to see it"; "From the novel by Walter Tevis", who also wrote "The Hustler" and "The Queen's Gambit"; "Screenplay by Paul Mayersberg"; about an alien from a planet desperately in need of water, who visits the Earth to save his race, but he is seduced by earthly pleasures) starring David Bowie (in the title role), Bernie Casey, Candy Clark, Buck Henry, Rip Torn, and Tony Mascia NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Vic Fair Important Added Info: Note that this is a very unusual poster, and we have never auctioned it before. We have auctioned the first release English poster a number of times, and it has a completely different image from this poster. That poster has British Lion on it. This movie was released March of 1976 and British Lion was purchased by EMI in May of 1976, just two months later, and we suspect they created this new poster to reflect their ownership of the movie. But because it could be from later in the 1970s, we are listing it as a re-release, but it could be from the first continuous release. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. The poster has pinholes around the edges and the right and left edges were folded back at one time. Someone backed the pinholes with tape and touched them (and some small repaired paper loss at lower left) with marker, and they used that same marker to touch up portions of the lower horizontal fold. It has light wear along the other folds and a few faint scuffs in portions of the blue background. It is otherwise in generally nice condition and after linenbacking with some proper restoration the very rare poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
