An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures approximately 6 3/4" x 10" [17 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Captain America is the patriotic Golden Age comic book superhero created by Joe Simon & Jack Kirby in 1941 (at the start of World War II) for Marvel Comics, and he was "revived" in Avengers #4 in 1964. Unlike the vast majority of Golden Age characters that were revived in the 1960s, Marvel Comics did not create a new version of him, but instead had a wild story of him literally being frozen for decades, and he was literally revived as the same character! The Captain America franchise has spread to almost all forms of media including books, television shows, and films. The character is portrayed by Chris Evans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Artist: Jim Steranko Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this comic book! Contents: Cover by Jim Steranko. "Tomorrow You Live, Tonight I Die!", script by Jim Steranko (plot) and Stan Lee (dialogue), pencils by Jim Steranko, inks by Joe Sinnott; Cap is ambushed by HYDRA assassins at the command of Madame Hydra; The mission fails and later Rick Jones joins Cap in a training session; Alone, Rick picks up a message meant for Cap that causes him to hallucinate; Abducted by Hydra Cap searches for Rick and is attacked by a Hydra robot; Rick escapes & tries to warn Cap, who realizes he could make a good partner; Cap appears to leap from a rooftop into the river through a barrage of HYDRA gunfire; The police only find his costume and a mask with the facial features of Steve Rogers, suggesting "Rogers" was a fake identity; Bucky Barnes cameo. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12.
