An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Terror From the Year 5,000, the 1958 Robert J. Gurney Jr. AIP science fiction (sci-fi) time travel horror thriller ("From time unborn... A hideous she-thing!"; "Produced, Directed and Written by Robert J. Gurney"; more intelligent and literate than you might expect; scientists invent a "time machine" that allows them to send objects to the future; they discover that those future creatures are taking the objects they are sent and replacing them with future objects; but then a badly scarred woman from the future travels to the present and scares every little kid who saw this movie back in 1958!) starring Joyce Holden, Ward Costello, Frederic Downs, John Stratton, and Salome Jens (in the title role as the she-thing!). Note that this movie may be the first one to ever show an actual "time machine" (in the modern sense), and the movie "The Terminator" borrows some of the plot of this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there is considerable confusion over who created the art for this poster. Some say it is by Reynold Brown and others say it is by Albert Kallis. If anyone has definitive evidence as to who created the art, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had small tape stains around the edges of part of the blank borders and small paper loss in the center of the top blank border, where tape was roughly removed. It had tiny scuffs in the top center of the image background above the tagline and a pinhole in the top right corner and a 4" vertical tear in the upper left with some surface paper loss on that tear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. I would think many collectors could happily display this great poster as it is, or certainly, one could choose to have additional restoration performed, either solely to the areas within the image or also including the blank borders.
