Date Sold 12/19/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Beggars of Life, the 1928 William A. Wellman silent/talking crime escape railroad train romantic adventure melodrama (based on the story by Jim Tully; in a significant portion of the movie, Brooks is disguised as a boy!) starring Wallace Beery, Richard Arlen, Louise Brooks (referred to only as "The Girl"), Blue Washington, Kewpie Morgan, Andy Clark, and Mike Donlin. Note that most film buffs consider this to be Louise Brooks' finest American movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare, especially ones that show Louise Brooks, as this lobby card does. We have only previously auctioned two examples of this scene card, and one of those examples has been reconsigned to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card is lightly water stained in the left, right, bottom, with a lesser amount in the center of the card. The staining is mostly only noticeable in the blank borders, and the card is also lightly rippled at upper left. There is a thin line of brown staining in the upper right blank border, with a small tear at creases in the middle left. This card is a wonderful candidate for restoration. It is likely that all or most of the staining can be removed chemically, and after proper restoration, the card will display wonderfully, and likely require almost no paint restoration! Please look at our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this card before placing a bid. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
