An INCOMPLETE Linenbacked French Advertising Poster (measures 46" x 62" [117 x 157 cm]) (Learn More) Peureux, the 1925 French liquor alcohol advertising poster promoting the purchase of Peureux Creme d'Anis absinthe liqueur, and featuring Henri LeMonnier artwork of a man bursting forth from the poster to offer Peureux to the viewer. Artist: Henri LeMonnier Important Added Info: Note that this poster is incomplete. It is the top half of a two-panel poster that likely measured 62" x 92" (or close to that). Please do not bid on it thinking that it is complete (although of course it can still be used to decorate one's wall, and it IS almost a century old! Also note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which we have never auctioned before! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! What IS linenbacking?
