A Folded French Advertising Poster (measures 27" x 36" [69 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Produits Lavocat (literally translates to "Lavocat Products"), the circa 1950s French advertising poster (with a tagline that translates to "Strength, Energy by Lavocat Products, irradiated foods") promoting irradiated food products. Note that this poster features art by H. Prost of an athlete carrying a rugby ball and running alongside a black stallion (no doubt to suggest his increased speed by eating irradiated food!). Food irradiation, also known as food ionization and cold pasteurization, exposes the food to ionizing radiation in order to improve food safety by extending product shelf life, reducing the risk of foodborne illness, delaying or eliminating sprouting or ripening, and as a means of controlling insects and invasive pests. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has some creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges an some minor area of slight discoloration in the upper blank corners. It has light fold and border wear and a few light creases scattered in various areas but is otherwise in pretty nice condition and while it displays well as is, after a simple linenbacking the poster will look great!
