An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 44 1/4" x 62" [112 x 157 cm]) (Learn More) Le Mepris (released in English-speaking countries as "Contempt"), the 1963 (released in the U.S. in 1964) Jean-Luc Godard French/Italian movie-making romantic love triangle melodrama ("Bardot is the body beautiful... she knows it... and she shows it!"; "Based on the novel by Alberto Moravia"; a very complex story about a screenwriter who is assigned by his producer to make a screenplay of "The Odyssey" more commercial, and he has a beautiful young wife who believes he wants her to sleep with the producer to help his career) starring Brigitte Bardot, Jack Palance, Michel Piccoli, Fritz Lang, and Giorgia Moll. Artist: Georges Allard Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned four examples of this French one-panel, which is a "country of origin" poster for this partially French movie, but only one in the last six years, and that one sold for $1,600! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened slightly on all the folds, typical of first release examples of this poster. It also had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
