An Undated (probably late 1940s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B3" or "Nakazuri" Movie Poster (14x20; measures 14 1/4" x 20" [36 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) A Nous La Liberte (literally translates to "We Have Freedom"), the classic 1931 Rene Clair French musical comedy starring Henri Marchand, Raymond Cordy, Rolla France, Paul Olivier, and Jacques Shelly. Note that Charlie Chaplin liberally "borrowed" from the plot of this movie for his classic "City Lights". When the producers of "A Nous La Liberte" attempted to sue Chaplin, director Rene Clair testified that ALL filmmakers owed a huge debt to Charlie Chaplin, and that NO filmmakers should ever consider suing Chaplin, and of course, that ended that lawsuit! Artist: Hisamitsu Noguchi Important Added Info: Note that we had originally offered this as a Japanese first release poster but canceled the auction before it ended to do more research (so this is still the only Japanese poster that we have offered). We discovered that this poster is likely from a 1940s post-WWII re-release. We cannot be 100% certain of this as it lacks the MPEA logo seen on many 1940s Japanese posters, but two independent sources believe it to be from the 1940s. Also, note that this Japanese B3 poster measures 14 1/4" x 20" [36 x 51 cm]. Condition: very good. The poster is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
