An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Barbarian and the Geisha, the 1958 John Huston historical Japan Asian political romantic adventure thriller melodrama ("The Geisha Girl They Sent to Love And to Destroy the Barbarian From the West!"; "Story by Ellis St. John"; about the first U.S. ambassador to Japan, Townsend Harris, who was appointed by President Pierce) starring John Wayne (as Townsend Harris), Eiko Ando (in the title role as the Geisha, Okichi), Sam Jaffe, So Yamamura, and Norman Thomson. Note that there is an embarrassing typo on the poster! Original author Ellis St. Joseph is billed as "Ellis St. John"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had extra creases, scuffs, and some tiny tears on the top horizontal fold and the top half of the vertical fold, with a lesser amount of wear on the other folds. There were pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
