An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Texas, the 1941 George Marshall cowboy western ("A thundering epic of heroic adventure!"; "BIG as the mighty State it glorifies! Fast as the flight of a blazing bullet!"; "Thrill to a mighty cavalcade of breathtaking action"; "The savage saga of the great Southwest... written in blazing bullets... flailing fists... and wildly beating hearts"; "Story by Michael Blankfort and Lewis Meltzer") starring William Holden, Claire Trevor, Glenn Ford (very young in this role!), George Bancroft, and Edgar Buchanan. Note that the year before, Columbia Pictures had made "Arizona", and this movie was rushed out due to the success of that earlier movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of "Young Glenn Ford", taking lessons in "two-gun work" from William Holden, who had previously made the western "Arizona". What is especially great about this still is that the two actors are standing in front of a wall which has a framed one-sheet from "Penny Serenade" on it! One almost never sees stills with actual printed movie posters shown. Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. Normally, this was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby. However, this snipe was glued on so that the written portion is only readable when the snipe is folded over the bottom of the still, which slightly defeats this purpose (although one can see the top of the still and the snipe at the same time, which could not be done if the snipe was glued on the back). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! There is a stamp on the back of the still that reads, "PLEASE CREDIT M.B. PAUL, Photographer COLUMBIA STUDIOS". Condition: very good to fine. There are some faint stains in the left blank border, but otherwise, the still is in excellent condition! Learn More about condition grades
