An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded German "A0" Festival Poster (33x47; measures 33" x 47 1/4" [84 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Zirkus Schwabylon (literally translates to "Circus Schwabylon", a combination of Schwabingen and Babylon), the 1937 German poster promoting an event to take place from February 3rd to the 9th at the Schwabinger Brewery in Munich, Germany. Note that this poster features art of circus performers by Hans Riedl. Note that the art on this poster is very surprising, because it clearly fits Hitler's definition of "degenerate" and "decadent" art, and yet, it was allowed to be displayed at a time when almost no other similar art was. We don't know why an exception was made for this circus poster. If anyone knows more about this, tplease e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Hans Riedl Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that same poster has been reconsigned for this auction! Note also that this German A0 poster measures 33" x 47 1/4" [84 x 120 cm]. Note that this poster must be sent in a tube that is over 32" long (which is why it is in this set of auctions). You can tell how long the tube will need to be by adding 2 inches to the shorter dimension of the length or width (so 40x60s need to be sent in a 42 inch long tube, etc). Most of these posters (with the notable exception of paper banners) CAN be combined in the same tube together, with a few exceptions. Bear in mind that a very long tube (42 inches or longer) will cost a lot more to send than a 30" tube, so bear that in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has uneven darkening in the top border. Someone put a thin white tape on the back of the top border, no doubt to attach it to a mat. But overall, the poster has survived in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
