An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 40 3/4" [71 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Our American Boys in the European War, the 1916 silent World War I (WWI) Red Cross American Ambulance Corps. medic military documentary ("Americans working under a hot rain of shells!"; "Giving succor to the wounded day and night."). Note that the posters we have seen from this movie (one-sheets and three-sheets) have the words "Victor White Ambulance Driver" printed in a lower corner of the image, and we have seen two posters (one one-sheet and one three-sheet) that had a snipe glued over the "Victor White" that says "VICTOR TARDIEU". Victor Tardieu was a French artist who volunteered for service in World War I and worked as a medical orderly. We imagine that this art was attributed to him along with a note about his duties, but somehow his last name was changed.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 28" x 40 3/4" [71 x 104 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny bits of paper loss and some tiny tears on parts of the horizontal folds. It had pinholes, tears, and faint stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone simply backed the poster onto a very thin linen with no restoration and no excess linen (it could be either displayed as it is, or any restorer could remove it from the thin linen and properly linenback it).
