An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Gimme Shelter, the 1971 Charlotte Zwerin, Albert Maysles, & David Maysles rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) music concert documentary ("The music that thrilled the world... and the killing that stunned it!"; "The fantastic Rolling Stones concert at Altamont, California where 300,000 young Americans went wild."; "Altamont changed a lot of people's heads") featuring The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Ike and Tina Turner, The Grateful Dead, and Dick Carter. This is the movie that covered the Altamont concert where the Hell's Angels were invited to be in charge of security. They were responsible for the brutal beating and stabbing death of Meredith Hunter, an 18 year old black African American man. There were also three accidental deaths. The movie shows performances, violence, Grace Slick and Mick Jagger's attempts to cool things down, close-ups of young listeners (dancing, drugged, or suffering Angel shock), and a look at the Stones later as they watch concert footage and reflect on what happened. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there are two different styles of one-sheet for this movie, both with similar layout and image, one that is three-color, and one that is black & white. The black & white version is far less common than the three-color version. Likely, this is because the black & white version was for the very first release, and the three-color version was probably issued after the movie received lots of publicity because of the killing that occurred at the concert. Condition: fair to good. The poster has much black marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at throughout. It is not very noticeable in the black areas of the poster, but it is quite noticeable in the white areas (see our image). Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
