Date Sold 10/19/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 7 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Undercover (released in the U.S. in 1944 as "Underground Guerrillas"), the 1943 Sergei Nolbandov English Ealing Studios World War II (WWII) Yugoslavia military propaganda thriller ("CHEER the fighting girl guerrillas! THRILL to their daring warrior men!"; "Most romantic thrill-story in 7 years!"; "A dramatic story of Jugoslav guerillas [sic]"; "Trills thunder over Jugoslavia... as a guerrilla girl and her warrior husband blitz the Nazi juggernaut!"; about the Yugoslavian "guerrillas" fighting the invading Nazis during World War II; there is a subplot of two brothers, one of whom may or may not be an informant for the Nazis) starring John Clements, Godfrey Tearle, Tom Walls, Mary Morris, Michael Wilding, and Stanley Baker (very low billed, in his very first movie!). Note that this propaganda movie told a story of Yugoslavian freedom fights during World War II, but only English actors were cast as Yugoslavians. Note that this was Stanley Baker's very first movie. He was just 16 years old. Like Richard Burton, he came from a Welsh mining family, and he had a surprisingly decent role in this movie, playing a teenager who wants to join the guerrillas in the fighting. He would not appear in another movie for six years, and he became a significant star. He also formed his own production company (it produced Zulu, in which he co-starred with Michael Caine), and he surely would have had an even more significant career (both as an actor and as a producer), had he not passed away in 1976 at the age of 49 (from lung cancer).
