Date Sold 11/26/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Chase Me Charlie, the 1918 Charles Chaplin & Langford Reed comedy short anthology ("A Chaplin Jingle"; "A British version of Charlie Chaplin's funniest films --- taken from the famous Essanay-Chaplin comedies"; a compilation of excerpts from Charlie Chaplin's short films including The Tramp, Shanghaied, In the Park, The Bank, By the Sea, A Night Out, The Champion, The Woman, and His New Job) starring Charles (Charlie) Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Leo White, Ben Turpin, Chester Conklin and Bronco Billy. Note that Essanay/Perfection Pictures released this compilation of Chaplin shorts in 1918 (after he had moved to First National), and that Citation Films gave this silent comedy compilation a full scale re-release in 1959, over 40 years later! Note that this movie was produced by "Perfection Pictures". This was created in 1917 by a merger of three legendary film companies of the earlier 1910s, Essanay, Thomas A. Edison, Inc., and George Kleine. We know that Perfection Pictures produced at least a couple dozen movies between 1917 and 1925, and we suspect that they also re-released some movies from the above three studios that were made prior to 1917. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these cards are undated, but we believe them to be from the 1920s (they could be from the 1930s, but normally, 1930s Chaplin re-issues had sound added, and these cards make no mention of sound). Condition: good to very good. The card pictured at upper left has three tiny circular areas of paper loss at right and lower right (see our image). It has some slight discoloration in the lower right corner. The card pictured at lower left has some paper remnants in the lower left blank border and some tiny paper loss in the upper right blank border. It is otherwise in generally nice condition. The card pictured at upper right has scuff marks and some creases in the image, a tear at lower left and some smudges in the right blank border. The cards have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind. Learn More about condition grades
