An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures approximately 27" x 40") (Learn More) The End of the River, the 1947 (released in the U.S. in 1948) Derek N. Twist English Brazil Amazon Jungle crime thriller ("They Lived... And Loved... by JUNGLE LAW"; "'There is only one law here - and I know only one part of it - the law of the gun.'"; "'There are treacherous currents at the End of the River.'"; "'Not enough gold to make our keep. Food exhausted. We'll start back tomorrow.'"; "A powerful melodrama filmed in the jungles of BRAZIL!"; "Produced by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; "A Production of The Archers"; about a Brazilian man who lives in the Amazon Jungle, and he goes to a big city, where he is practically enslaved and framed for murder, and in flashback, you learn what made him go to the big city in the first place) starring Sabu Dastagir (billed as "Sabu", as he was in all his movies), Bibi Ferreira (billed as "introducing Bibi Ferreira"), Robert Douglas, Esmond Knight, Orlando Martins, and Antoinette Cellier. Note that this was a very interesting but flawed movie from Powell and Pressburger. It was filmed on location in Brazil (including in the jungle!), but with all English actors except Sabu, and they don't look or talk very "Brazilian". Sabu had become famous in English movies in the late 1930s and then went to Hollywood, but his career was winding down in the late 1940s, and he made this movie in the hopes of it re-energizing his career, but it didn't work out that way! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this English movie! Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and creases and tiny dots of paper loss on parts of the vertical foldline. There were a few creases and small tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
