An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #1 (Enemies of the Universe) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Commando Cody: Sky Marshall of the Universe, the 1953 Franklin Adreon, Fred C. Brannon, & Harry Keller science fiction (sci-fi) outer space serial ("Commando Cody in his amazing space adventures"; "Sky Marshall [sic] of the Universe"; "Written by Ronald Davidson") starring Judd Holdren (in the title role as "Commando Cody"; billed on some items as "Judd Holden"), Aline Towne, William Shallert, Richard Crane, Grant Withers, Joanne Jordan, and Dale Van Sickel. Note that this character was in a serial the previous year called "Radar Men From the Moon", but in that serial he was played by George Wallace. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Republic Pictures for use for all chapters of their "Commando Cody" serial. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank rectangle in the bottom right. They would be sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific chapters of the serial, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. There were also stock posters from this serial that were overprinted with the names of the specific chapters, for theaters willing to purchase an entire set of them. This particular stock poster has been overprinted with the chapter 1 title, "Enemies of the Universe" (most collectors prefer a poster that has an original overprinted title to one that has a blank non-overprinted area). We have only auctioned two chapter 1 posters for this title, and the last time was in 2015! Condition: good to very good. The poster has a few tears around the edges, with some paper loss and a small tear at right, and a large tear at lower right that slightly extends into the credits (see our image). There are small bits of paper loss at lower left and each crossfold has varying amounts of separation, and the top crossfold has some tiny vertical tears above it. It is otherwise in generally nice condition and after linenbacking the poster will display well. Learn More about condition grades
