An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 13 3/4" x 22" [35 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Romance, the 1930 Clarence Brown (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic lost love melodrama ("A Metro Goldwyn Mayer ALL TALKING picture"; "Based on the play by Edward Sheldon..."; about a bishop who is approached by a young man in love, and the young man thinks the bishop knows nothing on the subject, but he tells the young man the story of how, as a young man, he fell madly in love with an opera singer, but after six weeks, he realized it could never last) starring Greta Garbo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Lewis Stone, Gavin Gordon, Elliott Nugent, and Florence Lake NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that a year ago, we auctioned a different example of this card in similar condition. The two were found together, and there are no more. We have never seen another example of this window card, and posters from this title are extremely rare! Also note that the card measures very slightly under 14" (approximately 1/4", so it measures 13 3/4") and has no left or right blank borders (and a tiny bottom blank border), but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Finally, note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair. The poster has staining, tears, and surface paper loss in Garbo's face, and many stains and smudges scattered throughout the poster. There are some nail holes in the poster and paper loss in the bottom right. The poster is in URGENT need of expert professional restoration, and is in MUCH lesser condition! Once the poster is properly restored, it will look great, but it may be expensive to perform this restoration, so bear that in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
