13th MAN 3sh '37

Lease from Hershenson/Allen Archive

An Original Vintage Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh) (Learn More)

The Thirteenth Man, the 1937 William Nigh crime mystery thriller ("Inside story of the crusade against crime!"; about a District Attorney who is on a crusade against the town's criminals, and he has locked up twelve of them and is about to arrest a thirteenth, and he is murdered, and the town's citizens decide to find his murderer, to repay his good deeds toward the town) starring Weldon Heyburn, Inez Courtney, Selmer Jackson, Matty Fain, Milburn Stone, Robert Homans, and Dewey Robinson. Note that this movie has an unusual important footnote! Monogram Pictures had been one of the leading Poverty Row studios of the early 1930s, but in 1935, two of its owners formed Republic Pictures, and the studio was closed. In 1937, one of the original owners reopened it, and this movie was its very first after it reopened (it would release 20 movies that year alone). It continued until 1952, when it changed its name to Allied Artists, hoping to drop the low budget label that Monogram always had!
