Date Sold 12/28/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1960s RE-STRIKE 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Norma Shearer was the great MGM leading lady of the 1920s and 1930s. She was married to studio head Irving Thalberg in 1927, and that seemed to greatly help her career, and his untimely death in 1936 seemed to coincide with the decline of her career. But that is probably really unfair, because while her marriage to Thalberg greatly helped her get top parts, she did wonderfully in many major movies! Some of her movies include: Romeo & Juliet (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Barretts of Wimpole Street, Marie Antoinette (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorcee (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Escape, Free Soul (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Their Own Desire (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and The Women. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 80. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor obtained this still years ago, but it is certain that it is not an original studio-issued still, but it is a "re-strike" still created by a dealer in the 1960s or 1970s (someone who likely had access to the original negative). Please do not bid on this still unless you can accept that it is certainly a re-strike still, and is NOT an original. Condition: very good to fine. The RE-STRIKE is in nice condition!
