Neuman is the fictitious mascot and cover boy of the humor magazine Mad. The character's look actually first emerged decades prior to his association with the magazine, appearing in late nineteenth-century advertisements for painless dentistry, which was the origin of Neuman's "What, me worry?" motto. Mad magazine's editor Harvey Kurtzman claimed the character in 1954, and he was named "Alfred E. Neuman" by Mad's second editor, Al Feldstein. Since his debut in Mad, Neuman's likeness has appeared on the cover of all but a handful of the magazine's over 550 issues. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a 1970s commercial poster which was almost certainly not officially licensed. Condition: good. The poster has horizontal creases scattered throughout due to being tightly rolled at one time, and there are several light and fine creases scattered in various areas (see our image). There are areas of paper loss along portions of the right blank border. It could be displayed as is or restoration could be performed, but please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this poster and bear all of these things in mind before bidding.
