A 1949 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, the classic 1935 Lew Landers (billed as "Louis Friedlander") Universal plastic surgery horror thriller ("An adaption of Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven"; VERY loosely based on the famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe; about a crazy plastic surgeon who saves a girl's life, but is rejected by her so he mutilates the face of a criminal to have him kidnap the girl after which he promises to restore the criminal's face!) starring Boris Karloff ("The uncanny master of make-up in a new amazing shocker"), Bela Lugosi (billed as "Bela 'Dracula' Lugosi"), Irene Ware, Lester Matthews, Inez Courtney, Samuel S. Hinds, Ian Wolfe, Spencer Charters, Maidel Turner, and Arthur Hoyt. Note that this is one of the only movies that feature both of the greatest horror actors EVER, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi TOGETHER, and just about everyone agrees is a wonderful movie, and quite a few (including myself) think it is the BEST of the movies these two giants made together! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 1949 re-release one-sheet (and NO first release one-sheet), and that was 10 years ago! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small tears, creases, and tiny paper loss along most of the folds, with pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was improperly backed onto a thin linen, and it has some creases within the linen, and the person who backed it did very slight attempts at restoration. If I owned this great and rare poster, I would immediately have it removed from the old linen and have it properly re-backed and re-restored. Please bear all of the above in mind before bidding on this poster. Obviously, one would prefer to find an example in better condition, but it is incredibly rare! Learn More about condition grades
